Our Mission For Transparency

We would like to say thank you – we have recently been given a grant by Weymouth Town Council of £500.00 – This will go towards Weymouth Carnival Dance Company and it’s marketing needs such as posters, online advertisement etc and we will publish where these monies go with the approval of Weymouth Town Council.

As the proud organisers of the Weymouth Carnival, which we hope to return to Weymouth in the future when the economy is in a favourable state, we understand the immense value of transparency in building trust, fostering community engagement, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our beloved event. That’s why we are excited to announce that we are releasing our draft accounts to you—the public.

We will create a section on our website so you can see event accounts such as our Halloween Event and Christmas Event, so you (the public) can see what we spend our money on.

Statement from Director Kallum Gethins:

“At Weymouth Carnival, we believe that transparency is not just a concept but a fundamental principle that guides our actions and decisions. By opening our financial records to public scrutiny, we aim to build trust and confidence among our stakeholders, including sponsors, participants, and the wider community.

Transparency is not about showcasing perfection but about demonstrating accountability and integrity in how we manage the resources entrusted to us. We want everyone to have a clear view of how funds are allocated, ensuring that every contribution is utilised responsibly to enhance the carnival experience for all.

Moreover, transparency encourages active engagement from the community that we love serving. We welcome feedback and suggestions based on the draft accounts, as we believe that collaboration and transparency go hand in hand in shaping a successful and sustainable carnival year after year in the future.

Our commitment to transparency extends beyond this initial release of draft accounts; it is a continuous effort to uphold ethical standards, promote good governance practices, and nurture a culture of openness and trust. Together, we can ensure that the Weymouth Carnival remains a vibrant celebration that brings joy and unity to our town for generations to come.”
